Routine Cleanings
In order to maintain oral health and ensure that any developing problems are caught early, it is recommended that adults visit the dentist twice a year for a routine cleaning. During a routine cleaning, we will not only thoroughly clean your teeth, but we will check for any signs of decay, gum disease, and oral cancer. At the end of the cleaning, we will instruct you on how you can improve your at-home hygiene habits, so you can be proactive about your oral health.
Oral Cancer Screenings
During a routine cleaning, we will check for signs of oral cancer. Symptoms include bad breath, red or white sore on the gums, and ulcers. If we suspect you may have oral cancer, we will perform further testings and plan a treatment schedule.
Fluoride Treatments
Fluoride is an element that helps prevent tooth decay. In many cities, fluoride is added to the tap water to improve oral health. However, sometimes this isn’t enough. At Tucker Family Dentistry, we will provide fluoride treatments during a routine cleaning if we feel it is necessary.
Periodontal Treatment
Periodontal treatment refers to treatment of structures surrounding the teeth, especially the gums. Swelling, bleeding gums and redness can be early signs of gum disease. We will clean the gums to remove bacteria and plaque. If left unchecked, gum disease can result in periodontitis, which may cause tooth loss. Coming to us for regular checkups will allow us to catch any periodontal issues early on, so they can be treated before it turns into periodontitis.
Root Canals
A root canal is performed when decay or infection has reached the root of the tooth, but the tooth does not need to be extracted. During a root canal, we will thoroughly clean the tooth of any bacteria or dead pulp, and then we will disinfect the tooth. Finally, we will provide a crown restoration.
Dentures & Partials
At Tucker Family Dentistry, we can provide both full and partial sets of dentures for the top and bottom teeth. We will take accurate measurements of your mouth, jaw and face to ensure that the dentures fit comfortably and in your mouth and allow you to properly speak and chew.
Extractions
When a tooth is decayed, infected or broken beyond repair, our doctors will perform an extraction. During an extraction, we will remove the entire tooth, including the root. After the procedure, we will discuss restoration options, which include bridges, dentures and implant restorations.
Implant Restorations
A missing tooth not only affects the aesthetics of your smile, but it can also cause teeth-shifting, trouble with chewing and speaking, gum disease, and potentially jaw bone deterioration. An implant is a long-term solution to a missing tooth. The implant is a titanium screw that is inserted into the gums to serve as the root. After a couple of months, this screw will meld to the jaw bone. At this time, we can restore the tooth with a crown. A dental implant will function just as a normal tooth, and it is custom-created to seamlessly match the rest of your smile.
Sealants
Sealants are used to protect children’s teeth from decay. Children’s back teeth, or molars, are very grooved on the top, which makes them not only difficult to reach but difficult to properly clean. Therefore, they are especially susceptible to cavities. Sealants block out food, plaque and bacteria to keep the molars healthy and strong.
Low-Radiation X-Rays
Dental x-rays are an important diagnostic tool. They allow us to catch symptoms and signs of developing problems that cannot be noticed during a visual exam. At Tucker Family Dentistry, we use low-radiation x-rays, which emit a very low and completely safe amount of radiation. You can rest assured that you are not in any sort of danger when receiving an x-ray, and that the information it reveals will be very beneficial to ensuring your dental and oral health.
Dental Emergencies
If you have a dental emergency, give us a call right away and we will get you in as soon as possible for treatment. If the emergency occurs after hours, call the office, and the answering message will provide you with instructions on how to receive immediate dental care.
Cosmetic Dentistry Services for a Beautiful Smile
Veneers
Veneers are thin, porcelain shells that are extremely durable. Using a high-intensity light, veneers are bonded to the front of a tooth. Veneers can be used to cover discoloration, gaps, chips and cracks and can transform the shape and length of a tooth. Plus, we custom-color and shape our veneers to ensure they will perfectly match and blend in with the rest of your smile.
Crowns & Bridges
When you have a cavity, after we remove the decay, we can restore the tooth with a crown, or a cap. The crown helps to improve the strength, shape and appearance of the tooth. At Tucker Family Dentistry, we provide same-day crowns for your convenience!
A bridge is a device that is used to fill in a gap in the smile due to missing teeth. A bridge consists of two crowns that are placed on the teeth on either side of the gap. These crowns are then connected to an abutment, or an artificial tooth, inserted into the gap. A bridge helps to prevent all of the risks that stem from a missing tooth, as well as improve the appearance of your smile.
Tooth-Colored Fillings
When a tooth is decayed, after we remove the infected areas, we will fill in the tooth with a filling. We only use tooth-colored fillings, which are made of a composite resin that is custom-blended to perfectly match the shade of your tooth. Not only are these fillings much more aesthetic than the silver amalgam fillings of the past, but they also help to better retain the strength of the tooth.
Teeth Whitening
Our doctors provide two kinds of whitening: in-office and take-home. During in-office whitening, we will use a high-strength bleaching gel. This process takes about an hour, and after that hour, you will automatically see drastic results. Your teeth can be whiter by as many as eight or more shades, depending on the results you are seeking. But you can rest assured the results will always look natural.
Or, if you would rather whiten from home, we can provide a whitening kit. We custom-create trays that will comfortably fit both your top and bottom teeth. You will also receive a high-strength bleaching gel to fill in the trays. You will see results within a few applications, and the entire process takes about one to two weeks.
Both of our professional whitening options are cleaner, safer, and much more effective than over-the-counter whitening strips and gels.
